On November 9, Esquire Germany hosted its second edition of the global event franchise, Esquire Townhouse, at the newly opened Rosewood Munich. It was a day of lectures, workshops, food, drinks, music, and entertainment by R&B singer Lary (Larissa Sirah Herden). Event partners included presenting partner Burberry Hero, and additional partners HUGO, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, and Zwiesel.
More than 250 guests—including Esquire cover man Jannis Niewöhner—attended exciting talks and interviews, tasted exquisite whiskey and wine, and danced the night away. In addition to the actors Jannis Niewöhner, Stephan Luca, Laura Osswald and Malick Bauer, Munich’s bar legend Charles Schumann, the jewelry designer Saskia Diez, as well as the creators Jonas Kautenburger, Rabea Schif, Sarah Brandner and internet phenomenon Ben Dahlhaus were also there as guests. Co-CEO of BurdaVerlag Manuela Kampp-Wirtz, board member Hubert Burda Burda Media Philipp Welte and CPO Elfi Langefeld were also guests. The highlights of the event included a keynote by futurist and trend researcher Tristan Horx, panel talks with author and entrepreneur Aya Jaff and Esquire cover man Jannis Niewöhner and a live concert by singer Lary.
At the beginning of the event, trend and futurologist Tristan Horx gave an exciting and deeply inspiring keynote on the topic of generations and how our lives will change in the future. Being young, working, retiring at some point—this model will no longer exist any time soon. Instead of pension, there will be wisdom at the end of the ladder of life. Tristan Horx comes from a dynasty of futurologists and is now not only a sought-after speaker and consultant, but also the author of the Esquire column Live in five.
Awarded “Woman of the Year” and one of the most important Germans under 30, Aya Jaff is one of the most exciting people in the German tech scene. In the Esquire Townhouse Talk, she spoke in detail about the urgently needed new work-life balance and how AI will change our working world. The interview about the advantages and challenges of artificial intelligence was conducted by Esquire Features Director Philipp Köpp.
Perhaps the most talented young German actor: At just 31 years old, Jannis Niewöhner has already played notable roles. In the Esquire Townhouse Talk, Jannis Niewöhner reveals why he not only doesn’t shy away from political roles, but actually seeks them out, and what he wants to give to young people. Together with Jean-Claude Mpassy, Esquire editor-in-chief Dominik Schütte spoke to Niewöhner about what film can achieve, how you can take on so many multi-faceted roles in a short time, and what influence costumes can have on actors and viewers.
The creative multi-talent Lary talks to Esquire’s deputy editor-in-chief, Alexandra Link, about the balance of music and acting and her life between Berlin and Paris. Following the talk, the singer performed four new songs, creating the most emotional moment of the evening. At the end of the evening, DJ Chelo ensured that the Esquire Townhouse and the Rosewood Munich were transformed into a roaring R ‘n’ B and hip-hop party.
The Esquire Townhouse event franchise is dedicated to bringing “man at his best” to life through exclusive panels, brand pop-ups, and activations. The event series has been successfully executed—both digitally and live—by other Esquire editions in the UK, Middle East, and Spain.
