Fotogramas Honors the Best in Spanish Cinema at 74th Awards Show

Fotogramas held its annual awards show in Madrid, honoring the best in Spanish cinema by vote of critics and readers.

The Barceló Theater in Madrid hosted the 74th edition of the Fotogramas de Plata Awards, the prizes awarded by Fotogramas by vote of critics and readers. Actors, actresses and film, television and theater directors have enjoyed a gala hosted, once again, by actress Toni Acosta.

Ana Torrent  has won, for her work in “Cerrar los ojos”, her first Fotogramas de Plata in the category of Best Film Actress. She competed with Laia Costa for “Un amor” and Carolina Yuste for “Saben Aquell” .

Competing for the Best Film Actor award were David Verdaguer “Saben Aquell” ; Hovick Keuchkerian, “A Love” and José Coronado, “Close Your Eyes” ; and it was the first, David Verdaguer, who won the Fotogramas de Plata.

The readers of Fotogramas have decided that the Best Spanish Series of this season has been “La mesías” , the Movistar+ production that has won over the other two finalists: “The body on fire” and “30 coins T2” .

The Fotogramas de Plata in the category of Best Theater Actress has gone to Vicky Luengo for her work in the play“Prima Facie” . Irene Arcos for “Tan solo al fin del mundo” and Kiti Manver for “El inconvenient” were the other finalists in this category.

Miki Esparbé has won the Fotogramas de Plata for Best Theater Actor for his work in “Los pales” . He was competing with Carmelo Gómez for “The War of Our Ancestors” and Nacho Sánchez for “Los Gestos”.

“The Snow Society” , by JA Bayona, has won the Fotogramas de Plata award for Best Spanish Film. It competed in this category with “Cerrar los ojos” by Víctor Erice “Campeonex” , by Javier Fesser.

The award for Best TV Actor this year went to Eduard Fernández , for his work in “30 Monedas T2” . Roger Casamajor for “The Messiah”  and Quim Gutierrez for “The Burning Body” were the other finalists in this category.

The winner of the Best TV Actress category was Úrsula Corberó , for “The Body on Fire” . She was competing for this Fotogramas de Plata with Najwa Nimri  for “30 coins T2” and with Ana Rujas for “La Mesías”.

One of the most emotional moments of the night was the presentation of the Homage award to Antonio Resines, an award that was given to him by his friend Belén Rueda.

More than 60 film critics convened by Fotogramas have chosen “Cerrar los ojos” by Víctor Erice as the Best Spanish Film of 2022 and “The Assassins of the Moon” by Martin Scorsese as the Best Foreign Film of 2023.
