At last week’s PPA Awards, Women’s Health UK picked up the ‘Cover of the Year’ accolade for its inspiring shoot with Strictly star Amy Dowden. Women’s Health UK’s Features Director, Roisin Dervish-O’Kane, and Editor, Nikki Osman, were in attendance and accepted the award.

The cover, which featured Amy as she was undergoing stage three breast cancer, was chosen by the public as the best from last year. In the December 2023 cover story, the dancer opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis, her decision to pose for the cover without wearing a wig, and why she doesn’t want to be treated with pity.

‘This is so inspiring,’ wrote one reader. ‘I’ve been struggling a lot with self-image since losing my hair from chemo and it’s great to see your confidence with it. You look amazing.’

The PPA Awards champion businesses and individuals from every corner of the specialist media sector, with 27 categories that recognize innovation and outstanding work from highly respected editors, world-class writers, marketing experts, and commercial stars, to the designs, digital products, creativity, and events that bring our brands to life.
